On this varied and challenging programme, you'll gain a broad understanding of how Facilities Management works within a bank. The programme will be 18 months of which the first 4 weeks will be dedicated to classroom training before starting your rotations in the business. You'll enjoy rotations through a variety of business areas including Client Services, Facilities Services and Maintenance, Finance and Business Management, and Space Management.

In these areas, you'll gain invaluable experience of the sheer variety of roles available in our business, through conducting research and delivering your findings, job shadowing, attending client meetings and functions, case studies, report writing, project work, presentations and analysis.

You'll need to be committed to a career in Facilities Management and will ideally have a post graduate degree in Hospitality, Facilities Management, Business Science or Business management, Financial Management, Engineering, Interior Design or Interior Architecture.

To assist the Manager: Facilities Services Workplace Management with the attainment of the business unit's objectives [the creation and maintenance of the infrastructure, the establishment of standards of service, and the provision of amenities that create the working environment that supports the operating needs of all tenants in the Gauteng Province:

  • Service delivery:
    • Service levels to tenants in managed sites meet / exceed the requirements of the applicable Service Level Agreement;
    • Tenant problems / requests / suggestions are resolved / addressed / assessed and responded to timeously;
    • The results of monthly satisfaction surveys undertaken with tenants in managed sites are reviewed and analysed with the applicable specialist service provider, and the appropriate remedial action taken.

  • Finances:
    • Operating expenses in the Outsourcing Expenses line comply with the approved budget;
    • Capital expenditure complies with the approved budget;
    • Unbudgeted expenses are investigated, motivated, and submitted for the appropriate approval.

  • Administration:
    • Undertake routine administration (prepare annual budgets and revised estimates; issue approvals, prepare and submit proposals, prepare and issue correspondence, review reports, prepare and submit reports and returns, etc).

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Matriculation Exemption
  • Three-year formal post school qualification preferably in a commercial services, management services, or related field
  • A post graduate qualification - post graduate degree in Hospitality, Facilities Management, Business Science or Business management, Financial Management, Engineering, Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • Keen interest in business and in touch with topical issues and current events. Must have a sound academic background and be able to talk confidently around their area of study.
  • At least three years' experience in a services environment, ideally in a professional Facilities Management environment.

Definitions:

Internship:

There are basically two types of internships:

  • The Undergraduate Internship: Usually with bigger organisations that pick undergraduates to attend the internship. It often takes places during the holidays and the average durations is a few weeks. It could be from a few weeks or even one or two years long. This type of internship could also lead to permanent employment.

Learnerships:

A learnership is an occupational qualification and it consists of theory and work-based experience and practical skills, with formal assessment and a qualification. At the end of the learnership the candidate may be offered permanent employment.

In-service training:

In-service training is to gain practical work experience during studies. It usually takes place after a few years of theory has been successfully completed. It is essential work experience that is part of the qualification and the in-service training is necessary to achieve the qualification. It could be paid or unpaid.
