Overview: Graduate recruitment plays an integral role in building the Tiger Brands talent pipeline. The Tiger Brands Graduate programme is a 12 month learning programme, where graduates who have just completed an appropriate 3 or 4 year qualification, complete a 12 month learning programme in selected disciplines. These graduates are employed as permanent employees and are placed in appropriate positions at the end of their graduate programme.

Purpose: Successful candidates in the graduate programme should have the desire to build a career with a leading branded FMCG company, would have a sound academic record at an accredited institution and recently have completed their 3 or 4 year tertiary qualification in a field of study aligned to our business requirements (see below). Graduates must have displayed the potential for high achievement and innovation throughout their qualification, have not worked full time (more than 1 year, not including workplace experience) in their field of study, must be computer literate in MS Word and Excel and have a valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities: To analyse the units production efficiencies, people productivity, and overall capacity of the production facility to ensure optimum performance of product specification, cost, service levels and working capital.

Technical / Functional Skills: The company seeks graduates who are self-motivated team players, efficient, flexible and able to think on their feet in an ever-changing world.

Minimum Qualifications:
- BSc. Engineering or B.Engineering or B.Tech Engineering with Industrial Engineering major
- Honours or Masters

Definitions:

Internship:

There are basically two types of internships:

  • The Undergraduate Internship: Usually with bigger organisations that pick undergraduates to attend the internship. It often takes places during the holidays and the average durations is a few weeks. In most cases the intern will receive some sort of stipend or salary and this type of internship may lead to a job offer to the intern once he / she is finished with their studies.
  • The Graduate Internship: This type of internship could be paid or unpaid and it is to gain practical work experience after the qualification has been completed and in a job related to the qualification. It could be from a few weeks or even one or two years long. This type of internship could also lead to permanent employment.

Learnerships:

A learnership is an occupational qualification and it consists of theory and work-based experience and practical skills, with formal assessment and a qualification. At the end of the learnership the candidate may be offered permanent employment.

In-service training:

In-service training is to gain practical work experience during studies. It usually takes place after a few years of theory has been successfully completed. It is essential work experience that is part of the qualification and the in-service training is necessary to achieve the qualification. It could be paid or unpaid.
