On the Group IT programme, we recruit graduates for permanent positions across the system development life cycle and include the areas of Business Analysis, Architecture, Development, Data Warehousing, Infrastructure and Maintenance and Production. The following are examples of roles offered within the mentioned areas:
  • Business Analyst
  • Data Warehouse Production
  • Data Warehouse Development
  • Production, Support & Maintenance
  • Process Management
  • Network Engineering
  • Infrastructure
  • Programming and development
  • Project administrators
  • User support and call centre

You will join a specific IT area as a permanent employee from day one. After an initial orientation and induction into the different IT areas, you'll join your specific IT stream. This orientation will give you the practical experience you need to start to make a contribution to our business.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
You will need to be a South African citizen with a minimum of a three year relevant IT University degree and an average academic record of at least 55% in your second year of studying. You will also need to be able to relocate to Johannesburg if we offer you a place on the programme. Your matric results will be considered as part of the selection process and you would need to avail yourself for a panel interview.

Required Competencies:
Candidates must be able to show they possess the following competencies to be considered.
  • Knowledge: Keen interest in information technology and in touch with topical issues and current events in the IT field. Must have a sound academic background and be able to talk confidently around their area of study.
  • Innovation and proactivity: Must be hungry to learn and enjoy work all levels of work. Must be resourceful and future orientated. Must be open to change and adapt own ideas to new information.
  • Working with others: Have a positive effect of team spirit and morale. Must be enthusiastic, appreciate diverse views and treat others with respect. Must be able to build credibility and trust.
  • Interpersonal / personal and Communication: Must be self-driven and inspiring. Display confidence without being arrogant. Have professional impact in terms language use, attitude and body language.

Definitions:

Internship:

There are basically two types of internships:

  • The Undergraduate Internship: Usually with bigger organisations that pick undergraduates to attend the internship. It often takes places during the holidays and the average durations is a few weeks. In most cases the intern will receive some sort of stipend or salary and this type of internship may lead to a job offer to the intern once he / she is finished with their studies.
  • The Graduate Internship: This type of internship could be paid or unpaid and it is to gain practical work experience after the qualification has been completed and in a job related to the qualification. It could be from a few weeks or even one or two years long. This type of internship could also lead to permanent employment.

Learnerships:

A learnership is an occupational qualification and it consists of theory and work-based experience and practical skills, with formal assessment and a qualification. At the end of the learnership the candidate may be offered permanent employment.

In-service training:

In-service training is to gain practical work experience during studies. It usually takes place after a few years of theory has been successfully completed. It is essential work experience that is part of the qualification and the in-service training is necessary to achieve the qualification. It could be paid or unpaid.
