Main purpose of the job: To perform support to internal Delivery Audits and to facilitate external Customer Audit process in line with guidelines provided by Audit Management to ensure smooth audit process and fair audit reports.

Key areas of responsibility :
- Job shadow and learn from more senior Auditors on performing audit tasks.
- Perform audit procedures across IT Services and technical platforms, including identifying and defining issues, analysing evidence, participating in client interviews and documenting client processes and procedures in the form of working papers.
- Responsible for executing and completing audit fieldwork according to established schedule and preparing audit reports as well as documenting controls. Working collaboratively with management to identify and track actions needed.
- Provide support on issues relating to internal controls, remediation monitoring, and other compliance areas.
- Conduct data extraction, analysis and security reviews utilising software tools and applications where required.
- Be involved in presenting and training audit process stakeholders on their roles and value to the audit process; the aim of instilling a delivery culture in line with customer control objectives. Maintain internal as well as customer relationships that assist smooth audit process and promote internal audit value.
- Gather information on Customer controls as input to maintain the Control Framework and on Audits planned to maintain the Audit Calendar.
- Manage scheduling audit process activities, audit mailboxes and flow of information through the Audit process.
- Carry out Change and Risk control activities to ensure that Audit related artefacts are maintained through correct process.
- Do administrative tasks as required for audit purposes (creating and maintaining documentation (physical/electronic storage), reporting packs, communication briefs, meeting presentations, training material, audit engagement feedback notes and minute taking in official Audit meetings).

Criteria for selection:
- Applicants must be South African citizens;
- Have completed a BCom (Internal Auditing) Degree or equivalent and be able to demonstrate good academic record and achievements;
- Application forms must be completed in full and copies of academic records must be included;
- Not have previously participated in an internship or graduate programme;
- Have no work experience in the field of study;
- A recent graduate (2010-2012);
- Considered a youth (18 to 27 years);
- Verified qualification certificate and no criminal record;
- Effective communication in English (written and verbal);
- Computer literacy (MS Office, basic Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
- Prepared to undergo psychometric assessments.

- Knowledge of generally accepted IS Auditing Standards, Statements and Guidelines, and IS security and control practices.

Definitions:

Internship:

There are basically two types of internships:

  • The Undergraduate Internship: Usually with bigger organisations that pick undergraduates to attend the internship. It often takes places during the holidays and the average durations is a few weeks. In most cases the intern will receive some sort of stipend or salary and this type of internship may lead to a job offer to the intern once he / she is finished with their studies.
  • The Graduate Internship: This type of internship could be paid or unpaid and it is to gain practical work experience after the qualification has been completed and in a job related to the qualification. It could be from a few weeks or even one or two years long. This type of internship could also lead to permanent employment.

Learnerships:

A learnership is an occupational qualification and it consists of theory and work-based experience and practical skills, with formal assessment and a qualification. At the end of the learnership the candidate may be offered permanent employment.

In-service training:

In-service training is to gain practical work experience during studies. It usually takes place after a few years of theory has been successfully completed. It is essential work experience that is part of the qualification and the in-service training is necessary to achieve the qualification. It could be paid or unpaid.
