Main purpose of the job: Effective desktop support of incidents and tasks as required on a daily basis.

Key areas of responsibility: Administration and co-ordination of the following:
- To effectively repair hardware and software incidents within contracted SLA and initiate 3rd party repair process
- To effectively perform IMACD Requests within the scope of the SLA
- To update, resolve or close incidents and requests on the service desk system on a daily basis
- To perform project related activities and tasks
- To perform ad hoc activities for other service lines as required
- To carry out preventative maintenance
- To effectively communicate and provide feedback to key stakeholders
- To maintain and improve customer satisfaction through first time incident resolution and quality service delivery

Criteria for selection:
- Applicants must be South African citizens;
- Have completed a National Diploma/Degree in Information Technology: Engineering / Computer Systems or equivalent and be able to demonstrate good academic record and achievements;
- Application forms must be completed in full and copies of academic records must be included;
- Not have previously participated in an internship or graduate programme;
- Have no work experience in the field of study;
- A recent graduate (2010-2012);
- Considered a youth (18-27 years);
- Verified qualification certificate and no criminal record;
- Effective communication in English (written and verbal);
- Computer literacy (MS Office, basic Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
- Prepared to undergo psychometric assessments.

Definitions:

Internship:

There are basically two types of internships:

  • The Undergraduate Internship: Usually with bigger organisations that pick undergraduates to attend the internship. It often takes places during the holidays and the average durations is a few weeks. In-service training:

In-service training is to gain practical work experience during studies. It usually takes place after a few years of theory has been successfully completed. It is essential work experience that is part of the qualification and the in-service training is necessary to achieve the qualification. It could be paid or unpaid.
